Avanti Summit

It’s happening! There will be an Avanti Summit this fall, so make plans to attend now. Here are some details so far:

What: If you haven’t been to an ‘old time’ Avanti Summit before, you may be wondering just exactly what is an Avanti Summit. Like Camp Avanti, a Summit is a complex matrix of activities and an opportunity to do the following: to gather and process old and advanced theory and treatment; to share insights and ideas; to physically and mentally revive and form or reform professional relationships on many levels.

An effort is made to balance the excitement of intellectual stimulation with restful, playful, physical and social activities.

These essential elements require contributions from those attending. When you make up your mind to attend, please let us know what you would like to contribute. Avanti has always included collaboration. We need your contribution to nurture and renew the Avanti spirit and generate new concepts. Be prepared to share, think, laugh, play and stretch your mind.

We will have the new Leadership Lodge, Savannah and camp staff buildings for our accommodations, which is nice since they offer in-house bathrooms. The camp also includes meals, but we will probably want to have at least one meal off site.

Tentative Schedule

Thursday: We would like to begin with a gathering campfire at Camp St. Croix on Thursday evening.

Friday: We will plan morning topics (to be determined). We have arranged a fall leaves river cruise on the St. Croix in the afternoon, which includes lunch.

We will discuss more topics in the evening. (Possible topics include: implications of the various reflex integration approaches for treating sensory processing disorders; research on sensory processing and trauma; gaze-aversion impacts on inner language and organizational skills. The final schedule of topics is up to participants; see reservation form.)

Saturday: Perhaps some hiking before breakfast followed by additional discussion topics. Crafts are another option. We would like to conduct a session on new books and equipment, etc. We are currently considering holding a reception in the evening for past Avanti campers in celebration of the 30th anniversary of Camp Avanti.

Sunday: Exercise, breakfast, final topics and discussions followed by a scattering ceremony after lunch.

These are just examples of what may occur. Nothing is written in stone, and all ideas are welcome!

July 5 Update -- The Avanti Eagle -- The Official Newsletter of Camp Avanti

Today marks the last day of camp for Avanti 2013! This year was full of fun and excitement, as well as lots of opportunities to be challenged and grow! Many new friends were made and fun was had by all! As Makiah from Cabin 2 said, “I love being at camp because I can be myself!” What a great week of camp, have a great rest of the summer, Avanti campers and staff!

Cabin 9 had another wonderful day at Wonderlab. All the kids were launched into space with the blob. Jack, Owen, James and Bryce were pros with getting speed on the shaving cream slip and slide!

Cabin 10

After canoeing, Cabin 10 enjoyed some down time in the sky chairs before Wonderlab. This week the boys canoed to Pioneer Point for a cook out and had an awesome time eating mac and cheese and s’mores!

Day Camp

Day campers had lots of fun in crafts today making sock buddies out of socks and other creative materials! Day campers had their overnight stay on Thursday!

Happy Fourth of July Avanti campers! Wednesday was another fun-filled day at Camp Avanti! Campers and staff soaked up another full day of sunshine and fun activities like finishing their tie dye shirts and wrestling in shaving cream!

While everyday at Camp Avanti is full of fun activities, Tuesday was especially colorful, with campers and staff tie dying their Avanti t-shirts! Campers had the choice of creating shirts of a variety of styles and patterns. Besides creating fantastic t-shirts, campers and staff were able to have fun in lots of outdoor activities, even some fishing!

Cabin 1 celebrated their cabin therapist Angela’s birthday on Tuesday! Here are the five sparkling ducks of Cabin 1 swimming in the lake!

Avanti campers had their first full day of camp on Monday, July 1 and it was a success! Campers woke up early for breakfast before starting a day full of crafts, music, horses, and Wonderlab!

Welcome to Camp Avanti Campers!

July 1 Update -- The Avanti Eagle -- The Official Newsletter of Camp Avanti

At 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, June 30, Avanti campers began to arrive bright-eyed and bushy tailed for a week of fun at Camp Avanti! They came with their suitcases, sleeping bags, and fishing poles ready for all of the fun in the week ahead! When asked, campers shared their excitement for activities such as crafts, the Wonderlab, music, and horses! After an afternoon of fun, and a delicious dinner of hamburgers and French fries, campers and staff sang and danced at the first campfire of the week! Sunday was a very eventful day, and both campers and staff look forward to Monday!

Cabin 1 enjoyed their time in arts and crafts on Monday! Scales the Snake even helped make crafts with the girls of Cabin 1!

Cabin 2 made nametages and got to know each other!

Cabin 9 enjoyed targeting games today. Otto got three tomahawks on the board his first day!

Cabin 10

Cabin 10 had a great day Monday! At lunch, the boys made a toast to being back at Camp Avanti! Matthew got several bulls eyes when Cabin 10 went to archery!

Cabin 11 Jeremy, Alex, and Shawn plaed in the "egg beater" today!

Cabin 12
Cabin 12 had a fun first day at camp! Campers and staff sung “Happy Trails” to them at campfire before they started their trip for the week!

Day Camp
